SLS Las Vegas Hotel & Casino – the hottest new hotel and casino north of the strip – opens August 23. The SLS is halfway between the Strip and downtown, making it easy to see both parts of Vegas. The SLS also has its own monorail stop, so you can ride all the way up to the MGM Grand without having to take a cab.
The SLS Las Vegas Hotel and Casino is located at the north end of the Strip where the old Sahara used to be – but there are no ghosts of Frank Sinatra or Dean Martin hanging out around this pool. Insiders that have gotten the tour say it’s the most ambitions SLS Hotel project yet.
SLS used the bones of the room towers and the casino building, but that’s about all of the original land mark that made the cut. Designed to accommodate most everyone, SLS Las Vegas is an all-encompassing, mixed-use resort and casino with more than 1,600 guest rooms and suites, 30,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, and a collection of acclaimed restaurant and nightlife brands.
SLS Las Vegas features rooms that fit any budget and any esthetic. Each guest room and suite features the finest linens and terry bathrobes, heavenly “Sleep Lying Still” mattresses from Simmons Beautyrest, “Saints and Sinners” snacks, luxury showers and bath products from Ciel, as well as a Samsung 55-inch HD TV with digital programming.
The World Tower will feature SLS “lite” rooms designed by Phillipe Stark. These rooms are no bigger than 400 square feet (with the exception of suites) and they are created to be more functional rather than over-the-top luxurious. Starting at $149 per night, our insiders coined the phrase “cost-effective chic” to describe these small-yet-functional rooms.
The Lux Tower highlights a more traditional SLS-styled room. These rooms are larger, starting at about 425 square feet. The same comfortable bed and high quality accoutrements are standard, while a white leather chaise that nearly runs the length of the room is both eye-catching, comfortable and, dare we say, practical.
Stylish details include mirrors on the ceiling above the head and unique illustrated drapery that wraps around the room. The bathrooms feature showers (no tubs) and a long dual vanity. This elegant and tasteful room boasts neutral décor with playful pops of pale pink for color. Rooms in The Lux Tower start at $239 per night.
The Story Tower has the smallest rooms, starting at 325 square feet, but they are also the most modern and fun. The bathroom and water closet, which are behind the bed, feature bright yellow tiling which livens up the smaller space.
The bed itself appears to be floating (another standard SLS design feature) while the sofa looks as if it broke off from the bed. In these rooms, SLS has combined clever design with superb functionality. These rooms start at $159 per night.
For high rollers, honeymooners and the VIPs among us, elaborate suites (and even a super-luxurious penthouse suite) are available.
The SLS Casino will be spread out over nearly 60,000 square feet. The casino will feature 800 slot machines on the casino floor. More than 200 of those slot machines will be video poker games. There will be also be two casino bars at SLS with a total of 30 video poker games.
While a lot of the 60,000-square-foot casino floor will be occupied by slot and video poker machines, there will also be table games, between 70 and 80 according to their website. There won’t be a poker room at SLS, but there will be an assortment of traditional table games including baccarat – the hottest table game on The Strip.
SLS will have their own players club for the casino called The Code, which can also be linked up to an iGaming account, a mobile betting service. The Code won’t be linked with any other players clubs, but you will have access to comps and benefits at SLS Las Vegas and other hotels, restaurants and clubs in LA, New York and Miami. You can sign up for The Code online or wait until you visit.
The SLS Sports Book, operated by William Hill, will be a combination sportsbook and bar/restaurant. A great place to grab a burger and a beer and watch the game(s) you just bet on, the restaurant – Umami Burger – will also have a beer garden and 50 televisions for your viewing pleasure.
Featuring signature dining, casual dining and even a buffet, the mix of award-winning restaurants at SLS Las Vegas is impressive, to say the least. Each is committed to culinary excellence, masterful mixology, enlivening design, and service that is energetic, yet unassuming. With so many internationally iconic destinations under one roof, there’s something for every taste.
